The Blueprint fashion exhibition presents key works that have been the most influential in Alex Luonto’s career during the years 2016-2026. The exhibition acts as a celebration of these selected works that have played the part of being a blueprint in it. Works presented in the exhibition have served either an influential or important role in the artistic direction and growth. The selected works have been presented utilizing the gallery space allowing the viewer to take a closer look at the ensembles, garments and objects. Materials, constructions, sewing, and small details are on display here. By showcasing fashion as equal to other fields of art Luonto hopes to set an example for peers, colleagues and lovers of fashion (and art!).
Alex Luonto is Helsinki-based (b. 1995, Sriracha) fashion artist and Aalto University graduate. His works, both bachelor graduate collection Leatheface (2019) and master’s thesis work Objects of Desire (2023) have gained notoriety in the fashion world. His artistic works spans from 2016 to this day making multiple collections showcasing his storytelling, construction skills and inventive material usage on the way. Alex Luonto’s work in fashion plays with minimalism with intention, attention to detail, craftsmanship and breaking norms within the industry. Utilizing unexpected materials from metal nails to suiting wools and mundane everyday materials such as t-shirts, napkins and collectible objects turning fashion into ready-made art.
Some notable fashion collections have been Silk & Sorrow (2025) presented as an Instagram-live show staged in the Amos Rex/Bio Rex stairs and his latest work ‘’Obsolete’’ which in itself acts as a celebration of the first decade as an independent fashion artist. Luonto also aims to lift up other designers and artists by making spaces and building communities surrounding his work. He has art directed a20 salonkinäytös for Helsinki Design Week (2025) and is now working on another celebratory collection project titled ‘’Methods of Madness’’ set to release in the upcoming fall. Methods of Madness will feature 10 other designers, peers and artists to collaborate in making each outfit together with Luonto.
Lately his work has been featured in the Finnish Presidential ball (2025), The Cannes film festival (2026) and in the upcoming The First Decade -fashion show organized together with Galleriaia that similarly to above mentioned exhibition showcases works from the past decade.
